Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I just got a request for a strawberry cake with icing.  I was thinking of using the WASC recipe and add some strawberries.  Has anyone tried this or have a good recipe that they would share?  I looked at the recipes here and there wasn't one.

WASC stands for White Almond Sour Cream, it is a doctored recipe with white cake mix as the base, almond extract and sour cream, they are super moist and delicious and oh so easy to make. It has a ton of variations and is still called WAS even if you don't use almond extract :D

This sound great! Too bad a lot of the recipes posted are hidden in post rather than the recipes files. I would never have found it. I had already started to Google. The recipe I have in the Cake Mix Dr. book adds strawberry gelatin and I didn't want the cake to take on the look of a very dark pink cake. I was hoping for a more lighter cake in color, pink. I like the idea of adding the daquiri mix. Thanks for all the replies and info.
I was in a rush had to have a strawberry cake at the last minute. I added 1 package of strawberry jello to the Wasc dry ingrediants then added the wet and mixed for the alloted time. The cake was beautiful and a huge hit at a childrens birthday party and  the adults loved it too.

Yes, my *original* WASC recipe (link below)  will make up perfectly using ANY cake flavor.   For a strawberry cake just use a strawberry mix.  If you dont have the flavor mix you need jello can be added OR pureed berries OR juice in the flavor wanted can be added to white, yellow or fr. Vanilla mix.

I use the WASC cake as my base for most cakes. This is how I do my
strawberry cake:

Replace the white cake mix with a strawberry mix.

Purchase a container of frozen strawberries, thaw.

Replace half the liquid in recipe with equal amounts of the juice
from the strawberries.

Replace oil with apple sauce ( I do this with all my cakes
regardless of flavor)

Mix it all up, add as many of the thawed strawberries as you feel
necessary at end of mixing.

Bake. It will take a few minutes longer than usual.

One recipe – many, many flavors. I've made this same cake with a
white cake mix when I didn't want an overly strong strawberry flavor. I call it
strawberry kisses cake.
