Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Does anyone have a cost comparsion of making a cake total of scratch to making the wasc cake? By time you buy the cake mix and then add in the extra flour and sugar it may seems to me that it is more expensive than making total from scratch. As expensive as cake mixes are getting today, I use Duncan Hines for my WASC cakes and the cheapest I have found is at Wal-Mart and that is 1.16, my local grocery store charges 1.69 when on sale other wise 2.29.

So if someone has made a cost comparsion would you please share.

TIA,

Diane

I have not done a cost comparison but I always get my mixes on sale for .69 to .89 cents each at Safeway, Albertsons etc... just watch for sales. I have been baking cakes for 30+ years and done scratch... boxes... you name it a lot of recipes over the years and I like the doctored mixes way better for flavor so regardless of the cost, I do what tastes best and what will bring return customers my way. I am curious now if anyone has made the comparison! Good question!
Forgive me if this is a silly question? What is WASC cake?
White Almond Sour Cream -- you can find the recipe and variations in the Recipe section of the forums. You HAVE to try this recipe. It is wonderful.
WASC is definitely good! I've made it in chocolate and am now getting requests for it.
