Hi folks, ive been asked to do a sparkly bling birthday cake for a 30th birthday. The cake itself is to be the number 30 but they want it decorated bright pink and blingy!! Does anyone please have any ideas about how I can make this cake super sparkly!! Any suggestions would be most appreciated x

why not airbrush it with a metallic color or pearl dust? or maybe you could use isomalt gems, different sizes of pearl dragees in different shades of pink and glue it on the cake? sort of like a mosaic concept...
I highly recommend Julie Bashore's non-toxic glitter: http://www.sugarartschool.com/store.php/categories/edible-glitter
It is very fine and it is safe to eat, unlike other glitters. You can use an embossing mat, roll over it, apply shortening, sprinkle the glitter, hit it with chocolate lacquer and then remove the mat. It comes out gorgeous.
Glam bands are pretty! Caljava just had them on sale I know. You could go around the border of your 30 with it (like you would a ribbon).
Thanks very much for your suggestions. The cake gets underway today and ive decided to go with the bright pink fondant and white stars effect. I have a combination of pearl lustre spray and edible white glitter so I will see how that works out. I might also add a few stars covered with edible silver spray but I will see how it goes. I will post a photo when I get this cake finished xxx
