Beware when buying your next kitchen appliance!!!!!

Buyer beware when buying a floor model appliance.
While purchasing several appliances for my new kitchen being built,the sales associate suggested we would save $1000 on a wall oven which was on the floor for display. It still had a 1 year factory warranty. Mind you it wasn't used it was only on display....
Once we installed it several months later we needed a repair on it.
I called the Dacor Factory gave them my serial number and model as you do with all warranty work. We were then told they needed a copy of our bill of sale to prove it had been bought within the year because the unit was 7 years old. Most appliances last at least 10 years so this unit to me is considered close to being time for another especially when it has already needed repair and now on its second round of a different repair.
Most people don't keep cars as long as Appliances but at least on your buyers order they give the cars age.
My point is I can guarantee most people buying appliances don't ask the age of the appliance unless buying a used one.
How do you know that what is taken out of the box hasn't sat around in the warehouse for years.
You tell me how many people are aware of this..Not me I guess it is an expensive lesson learned.
Shame on the people who sell these things without disclosing the age.
You asked for mine when you wanted to see ID to purchase with a credit card. Next time I will ask for yours and the Appliances
