hello,
I'm from New York and also prefer to eat a fresh cake. I believe you are referring to a cake made from scratch? Once the techniques are mastered, the cake is usually different in taste (probably has to do with the fact it has no preservatives). However, having used the recipe for WASC myself, it is very good as well.
