Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Thank you to this site to help me learn the How to do it!
Special Thanks to:
Sherry, MMF video/slideshow tutorial
Theresa (Terri) How to stick fondant together.
Small square 8x8x2
Small round 6x2
(I had enough batter left to make a second round but did not use in this
cake, I needed to feed only 10 people)
We had a patriotic event at our home 4/5/10 and I made this small cake.
Cake, very light almost white cake, sliced to layer the square and round
and then filled with lemon cream cheese icing, thin layer of butter
cream for crumb coat, Marshmallow fondant - 1 recipe that I split and
colored, blue and red and of course left the white as white.
There are 13 stripes and yes, 50 stars that I also made sparkle with the
shimmering dust!
My fondant on the actual round and square cakes I made very very thin
and my stripes and stars were thicker.
Everyone loved it! I LOVED it for my first cake. I know it is very
simple but I did it!!! Thanks to everyone on this site who share and
help each other. All of you have made it easy for a first-timer.

Awesome first cake! Do you realize what most people's first cakes look like?
Great job. Keep on Bakin'.
Great work Sher! Keep at it.
Congratulations!! You did a fantastic job. I still haven't had the courage to tackle fondant.
Kathy - Go ahead and try it, you'll love it. Fondant is only intimidating the first time you use it.
