I am making royal icing lillies. I made them last night letting them dry...Now cant get them off the foil. Everytime I try they snap in the middle...What did I do wrong? Do I have to start over and trash these ones? They are so pretty. I even hand painted them....Thank you...Patty

If they aren't coming right off the foil, they aren't completly dry. I had the same problem with a Hello Kitty cakes face a while back. I made about 6 of them and they kept breaking. The part that was still touching the base it was on was still not completely dry. I ended up making another on, putting it in a bedroom under a ceiling fan for two days. Then I slowly peeled the backing off without actually picking up the face. I sort of pulled it to the edge of the pan it was on, then pulled the backing (acetate) down away from the face. Once the RI was dry it came off no problem, no breaking.
I like to pipe them onto parchment paper instead they come of easier. If you can cut the pieces of foil into smaller pieces and gently peel from the back sometimes that helps. When I do royal icing things I like them to dry for 3 or 4 days so they are good and solid. Hope it all works out for you!
