Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Ok... I am bored out of my brains.   There is so much I can not do after surgery so I am finding ways to do things.   Just thought I'd share a few things with you and see if you can get a chuckle at how crazy I must look to my neighbors!

Laundry... I decided to do a load of laundry... so I split the clothes into a couple small piles so I did not lift them all at once.  Got the washer going and put them in making 2 trips back and forth...when the washer quit... how do you get the clothes out without bending over to do it??? I got the BBQ Tongs out and they are my new best tool in the house!!!  Put the clothes in the dryer and when it ended... used the tongs to get them out!  Did a load of towels... took me 3 trips to load the washer with them.   I like to hang the towels outside on the clothesline so I took them out 3 towels at a time to hang them.

Changing the sprinkler.... I have a shepard hook that is about 2 feet long and I have been using it to pick the sprinkler up... using my foot to turn the faucet on and off....

Now if I can just figure out something to pull weeds with....

egads Jeri, I am exhausted just reading what you did, :D

as for weeds, isn't that what kids were born for, LOL

necessity is the mother of invention!!!!!
Jeri, I've seen a tool in Home Depot that looks like a claw and it has a long handle for pulling weeds. I've been known to throw the laundry down one flight of stairs at a time so I don't have to carry the laundry basket. I wish I had a laundry shoot. But, I have a husband who does all the laundry in the house. When I'm in pain, he spoils me. That's the best solution!
I just can not still is my problem.... went for my one week post op today... doc reminded me all the no no's.... I think he knows me!!! Sherry... my kids are all grown and live 3 to 4 hours away so don't think they will be coming to pull weeds. They were home last weekend and our son's fiance actually did pull weeds for me... problem is we have a half acre yard and tons of flowers and gardens. Oh well... I am thinking about hiring someone so it is not such a huge mess next summer. I just can not vision myself having someone do my yard work for me.... just not me but better that than end up back to square one!!!

Theresa... my hubby helps a ton too... I'd be lost without him. But I just want to do it all.
Get yourself a Goat for the weeds! Lots of people borrow goats where I live and the goats love weeds and other things too!!!!
I say no wedding for now! :)
Oh dear... no... my flowers would all be gone. Hubby does the mowing with the riding mower so no goats allowed here... the deer come in and eat way too much I have to plant things that they don't like and put down blood meal to keep them out of here. The problem is the weeds are mixed in with my flowers.

Delivered the last wedding cake until the end of July today. I had my neice come help me with all the heavy stuff and she has been coming over learning so she rolled out the fondant and did the things I could not do. I posted pics. It was a western themed cake.... again. Now I am going to learn how to make more flowers. I am going to make some anemonies and some clematis. And I have a few cakes coming up that I need to make flowers for and I can do that without any bending lifting or twisting. As long as I take breaks and do not sit too long. That can be a problem when making flowers!!!
