Hey Monica

I not good with computers...or would have transfered some info here.  I googled, ram horns, and I nice picture came up on Flickr.  Would have posted it here, if I could have figured out how to do it !!!!!!

Anyway, the horns were gold, & looked pretty good.  And I also agree, that attaching them with wire using RC is a good idea.  They would be relatively light as well.

I made a rams head (I will look for the pics to post).  I covered twisted wire with rkt and then melted candy melts and rubbed it all over the rkt horns (for added firm) and placed in the freezer.  I then covered them in fondant, made horn marking and airbrushed (a ivory w/ alittle brown mixed in)  so the "grooves" showed up.  I had the horns curl so that when attached to the head they curled to the sides of the head and could "sit" on the cake board.  Does that make sense?  they were heavy but since alot of the weight was on the cake board it didn't put alot of weight on the ram head itself.  The ram head was rkt also.

thanks june, i will google them, i have been looking all over the net to find a pic of a cake with the ram horns and have had no luck, so this helps, thanks.

hi debra, yes, this does make sense, the first thing i thought about was the horns being to heavy for the head to support, but the way you have explained it makes alot of sense, if i have them touch down to the cake it would support most of the weight.  I plan on having him standing on two legs wearing a graduation gown and the degree in his hand, so having the horns touch to cake would work. i noticed you said you used twisted wire, did you twist the wire yourself or did you purchase it twisted? I assume the twisted wire would better help the RC not slide off the wire huh?  do you have a  pic of your ram horns, that would be great to see.
