Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello,

I use Kopykake frosting sheets for printing images I put on cake however I always end up wasting too many sheets as the image is very hard to come off from its backing sheet.  I also have people who never use edible image before buy it from me and they always comes back with negative feedbacks saying they can’t take the image off its backing sheet.  I tried all other alternative that supposed to help loosen image from the backing sheet as well but doesn't work.  I am now thinking of using rice paper however some people online says rice paper is not good to use for printing images.  Anyone here has experience printing images using rice paper?  I appreciate any feedback or advise.

Thank you,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I would try the PhotoFrost icing sheets. The icing comes off the backing sheet very easily.

yes, I have used rice paper before.  Alot of issues with it.  1. does not merge with baked good, usually needs to be taken off of baked good before eating since it's like a skin on top of it.  2. Can not cut through it 3. Does not taste very good.   Have you thought of using another brand of edible paper?  PhotoFrost?  what methods have youtried to get the paper off of the backing?  popping in freezer is a last resort, but usually works, the only problem there is that you need to work fast once you take it out of the freezer or it will adhere to backing again.  Passing a hair dryer over the picture to take out some of the moisture.  Holding opposite corners of the page and running it over the edge of a square cornered table  Just a few tips hopes this help
