My name is Madhulika and first i want to congratulate and thank JJ for hosting this contest. I am into baking from last 1 year , I do cakes for friends and family only. I participated twice in the monthly competition of cakes we bake and many other contest and i regret about that, because i am an amateur and when my cake is not even anywhere close to the winners i feel disheartened and sometimes discouraged.

Contest like this should be hosted on monthly basis . Once again thankyou JJ.

This is a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting tinted with mostly brown and hint of red. I used a paper towel for the top look. There is certain amount of space left for inscription unfortunately i didn't took picture after writing the message. That's all i have.

that's a neat idea :)

My name is Ashleigh, and here is my entry for "JJ's Amateur All Occasion Cake Contest!" This cake was made from two 8" round vanilla cakes, filled and covered in a butter based butter cream frosting. I love the smells and colors of the Fall season, so I chose a Fall themed  cake. The leaves, trees, and writing are all piped in butter cream. This cake was my final cake for the Wilton basic class.

Hey folks! I'm Julie, and I live in the Great Smoky Mountains.  I have been decorating for a whole 17 months now...LOL!  I am completely self-taught. I've learned everything by watching/recording cake & cupcake shows on TV, researching the Internet, and from great people who are willing to share their knowledge on sites like CWB.

My entry cake was created for a New Year's Eve (2010-2011), in which the theme was "A Time for Change."  The cake is homemade pina colada with homemade coconut flavored buttercream filling and icing.  The "coins" are foil wrapped chocolates that I purchased.
