My name is Eillim Cintron, and here is my entry for "JJ's Amateur All Occasion Cake Contest!"

Buttercream starshell with a flower transfer on top cake.

Cake is two layer pound cake with buttercream icing.

I would so love to enter this contest, I am such an Amateur, and love the prices, but since I have learned to use other mediums, I don't do much piping.  I hate piping, I really need to get back to it.  I might have to relearn it.  I went through my pictures and the last cake I have with a boarder on top and bottom was my basketweaved flower cake from my wilton class 5 years ago (and someone else already entered hers).  I do have to say my smooth icing has improved over time.  Good Luck to everyone!!! Thanks JJ for doing this.
What better excuse is there to work on your skills?  These are the basics!

I know, it is to get the time.  I wish I could.  Most of the cakes I have been doing are for other people, so I want to do more of what I am comfortable doing and right now, it is fondant and cutouts, not piping.  I work and have a very active 12 year old so there has not been to much me time lately work on

them.  I hope to soon.  That is why I would love to take some more classes, it gives me the excuse, and the time for myself.

Here is my entry to the Amateur all occasion cake contest. It's french vanilla with buttercream, roses are royal icing. I'd like to give a shout out to any buttercream "pros" that may read this...you guys have talent! I have been decorating since Feb., no classes.  I thought my cakes were pretty decent....now I'm thinking I might take a basic buttercream class!

My name is Madhulika and first i want to congratulate and thank JJ for hosting this contest. I am into baking from last 1 year , I do cakes for friends and family only. I participated twice in the monthly competition of cakes we bake and many other contest and i regret about that, because i am an amateur and when my cake is not even anywhere close to the winners i feel disheartened and sometimes discouraged.

Contest like this should be hosted on monthly basis . Once again thankyou JJ.

This is a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting tinted with mostly brown and hint of red. I used a paper towel for the top look. There is certain amount of space left for inscription unfortunately i didn't took picture after writing the message. That's all i have.
