Hi
My name is Rhonda Goodwin
I am also a self taught cake decorator. I get alot of my inspiration
from websites for cake decorators.
My submission to JJ's amateur cake contest is a cake I made for
my 4yr old grandaughter. It is a Vanilla cake with a buttercream icing I tried from on of
the many sites I visit. Very tasty and easy to smooth using paper towel method. decorations were buttercream and
fondant. My writing is horrible but I didn't want to mess the cake up so I wrote on the board.
This is the second picture it didn't work the first time.
My name is Regina Santangelo, and here is my entry for "JJ's Amateur All Occasion Cake Contest!" This cake has one layer of white and one layer of Devil's Food all covered with my buttercream. I dusted the main body of the cake with silver luster dust to make it look like an aluminum pot. The flames are buttercream. The top was smoothed with buttercream then a round border that looked like the edge of the pot. Then it was filled with fondant crawfish boil items. Cooked sugar was cracked and placed around to similate the boiling water.
(These photos are also posted on the Cakeswebake.com web site but I was unable to upload from there.)

I need to ask a question, because I'm not sure I understood the terms correctly.
Is it allowed to post more than one cake per contestant?
Thanks!

from what i understand.... You can use fondant decoration but the cake has to have writing on it... an/d or piping.. of some sort
you can NOT cover the cake in fondant
My name is Candy and here is another entry for "JJ's Amateur All Occasion Cake Contest!"
This is a Red Velvet Cake iced with Cream Cheese Buttercream
My name is Erica and here is my entry for "JJ's Amateur All Occasion Cake Contest!"
The cake I am entering into the contest is a 8 inch round, two layered, red velvet cake. The cake was iced using butter cream icing and then sprayed to get the red color. The top of the cake is decorated with the Georgia bulldog logo. For the final touches, the cake was piped with a white (vanilla butter cream) and black (chocolate butter cream) rope border. I also piped some sparkling red icing around the "G" to make it pop and sprinkled some red sugar crystals.
