Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi all,

I wanted to know how to make customized fondant lettering?  In other words, I want to put the same style of lettering that the invitation has.  So how do I go about doing this?  Do I enlarge the letters and then trace it on somehow onto the fondant??

Any thoughts or ideas???

Thanks!!!

that's what I would do. I'm sure there is an easier way but I haven't seen too many different styles of letter cut outs.
What I have done before is enlarged the lettering and then used acetate plastic sheet (Hobby Lobby) and cut the letters out on it to use as a templete. I used a sharpie on the plastic to trace the letters and then after I have cut the letters out I wash off any marker that is left. Works great. Hope this helps.
I print things off the computer all the time and use them as a pattern. I also have the Tappits and they make fun letters but might not match your invitations. I use a scribe tool to cut them out.
Enlarge the font if you need to and place a rolled out piece of gumpaste or fondant over the piece. With some pins try to make a pattern by stic king the around the lines of your pattern. Think, connecting the dots.
Good ideas ladies...I was also thinking of printing the font on transparent paper and putting that on top of the fondant and trying to cut it. But Mara I like your pin idea!
to get the same letter and size, place wax paper over the print and use 'royal icing' to trace. let it dry, very gently peel off wax paper. if you want a large font, scan on printer and enlarge, do the same as mention.
