Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone has tried this product yet?  I tried it tonight hoping to make some whipped cream roses, but as I did them it started to melt.  Like the box says it is suppose to hold it's shape for flowers and borders.

I followed the instructions on the box...any thoughts what may have gone wrong??

Thank you!!

I have used it a couple times but not for flowers. It is a lighter icing that does not hold up like buttercream or royal. I don't think you did anything wrong... just not a good product for making flowers.
I know...the box is wrong!! It clearly says it holds up for flowers and it does not. I guess i will have to make my flowers with BC or RI...

Thanks Jeri!

You may want to add some gelatin to the icing. This seems to help whipped icings hold shape better.
Crisco icing

1 box + 1 cup of powdered sugar
1 cup Crisco
1/4 cup warm water
1 tsp flavoring

this works best for me
Thanks Elizabeth, but i am trying to avoild using gelatin in the icing..
Megan, thanks for the receipe. This is fresh cream? And it holds well with flowers/decorating?

I don't know if it's freash I'm kinda new at this heh. All I know is my grandmother got this recipie a good 30 to 40 years ago and she made flowers with it for all that time so I know for a fact that the flowers will hold up.
It's not a fresh whip cream recipe. It does work well for flowers and piping, but it hardens more like a royal. The flowers will stand most anything once they dry.
