Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hey everybody :) I thought I'd shoot this question out there for anybody in the same boat as myself who may have come across some useful answers. I live in Atlantic Canada and for the life of me there is nowhere to buy cake decorating supplies aside from Michaels. Im looking for a good place to buy specialty supplies like silicone veiners, gumpaste tools and tylose powder (I ended up buying a few containers from Golda's Kitchen since wiltons gumpaste is gross and the gum-tex is gross too).

I've ordered from Golda's Kitchen and I've tried looking on Ebay for some good stores that sell to atlantic canada with reasonable shipping. Any other ideas? There are some good online stores that sell sugarcraft stuff but it's a little pricey to ship them to Canada (which is rediculous in itself).

I'm almost to the point where I wouldn't mind even being a distributer for cake supplies in atlantic canada just to get the supplies out this way lol. There is a huge need for cake supplies and nobody is supplying that need - atleast not here.

Ideas? Store urls? Recommendations? Tips? :D

I have nothing to help you with the exception of encouragement. Great Idea for you to become a distributor for cake supplies. You have done your homework for your area and surrounding areas, that is half the battle. It would be like taking care of two things at one time. Getting everything you need for yourself at a discount and creating a business to help other businesses besides making some money - to me it sounds that this will pay for everything you want to do with an investment at first but the end results will pay off for you being successful. I vote for - distributor and help yourself at the same time! Whatever your decision will be, You will be Successful.
Sincerely,
Sher
I know how you feel Marie...same thing here in Jamaica...and shipping things aren't worth it sometimes...and then when the stores here import the products us the end users pay so much for it...can you imagine that i can get petal dust for 1.79 or so at fondantsource.com...and i have to pay $825.00 (JA) approximately US$9.00 for them here....it's a challenge...so the costs of the cake is so much...but people can only afford certain priced cakes...but I just have to make do...and suggest more affordable designs to friends...or whoever...
