Hi Diana! I noticed you are in my neck of the woods :) I was wondering if you knew of any cake supply sores in the area.. I can't seem to find anywhere besides Michael's and they are so limited with what they sell... I would love any advice or recommendations you could offer!

Hi Sarah,
I'm in the Houston area. I think you should go for it, (applying at a bakery) think of the experience you would get, and all the little tricks of the trade you would learn. Hopefully the Texas laws will change soon. Good luck.

Hello Cakers!
I am from Fort Worth, TX. I have been cake decorating off and on for almost 2 years now. When my daughter passed away in March of 07 I needed something to occupy myself. In 2008 almost a year later I decided it was time to try and focus on something other than the pain of losing my sweet angel. That is when I signed up for a Wilton cake class.
Now I make cakes for family and a few friends. I have recently received requests for a wedding cake and a baby shower. These would be my true first paying customers if I was allowed to sell cakes out of my home. Texas law prohibits this so they are going to purchase the supplies and I will just donate my time.
I have just recently contemplated on applying at a bakery as a assistant to gain more experience. I wonder what all of your thoughts are this.

Happy Caking!!!
Hi I'm from Chicago, IL i took wilton classes last year and have made cakes for family and friends but last year my husband got laid off so i decided to try and sell them. I really enjoy making cakes and love trying new things.

I'm from Camden, AL. I only bake cakes for family members. My family has been trying to get me to start taking orders but I'm not ready for the commitment yet. This week I will be making an alligator cake for my grandson's first birthday. Wish me luck!
