So I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas for a Harlem Renaissance/1920's themed birthday cake. The colors of the party are peacock colors and fuschia. Any ideas? Thanks everyone!

I would think you would need to incorporate literature, art, and jazz music somehow to represent the Harlem Renaissance. You could mold a saxophone or trumpet, a book by Langston Hughes or a paint pallet. I also think Cloche hats were very popular. I have seen some cakes with feathers and that would fit the theme. Although I have no idea where they get the feathers. I would make the cake very colorful. Not sure if that was much help! Hopfully others have some ideas. This is kind of a hard one! Good luck!
Thanks for your help! The client wants a molded jazz singer. I'm gonna add some peacock feathers and art deco trim on the bottoms of the tiers to make it look night clubish. She wants it to look like an old school night club but doesn't want it white and I think black as the base fondant would be too dark. Don't you think? It'd also take away from the singer. I was thinking the base should be peacock blue. Any thoughts?
I think peacock blue would be really pretty and fit the theme and colors perfect! I agree that black would take away from the singer. Sounds like this is going to be fun cake! Please post pictures!
Any advice on how to make a realistic looking singer figurine?? Lol This cake is kicking my butt!

Barbara Garrard made a very cool Taylor Swift cake that I think it posed somewhat like you would want to pose a jazz singer.  I would check it out maybe ask some advice from her. Sorry I cant help! I made my figures more cartoon and less realistic LOL
