Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I'm looking for a recipe for Hazelnut cream filling for a wedding cake.  I found several online but they either call for Hazelnut paste or hazelnut oil, and I can't find either in my little podunk town. :)  I did find organic Hazelnut syrup and I'm wondering if I could use that in a Maple frosting recipe in place of the maple syrup? Or do one of you have one you've tried and love?  Any help greatly appreciated!!  It's to go with vanilla cake, so I'd prefer something light and fluffy.

Actually put together a decent filling using Mascarpone cheese, organic hazelnut syrup, powdered sugar and finely crushed hazelnuts. Now to see how it holds up in the cake!!
It sounds yummy, I hope it works out for you.
Go to the peanut butter aisle and look for "Nutella". It is hazlenut spread with chocolate. We mix it with whipped cream (whipped) or you can add it to buttercream.. By the way it is great spread on warm toast.
Oh, I LOVE Nutella, but she wanted something that wasn't chocolate since the top and bottom tiers are chocolate cake. We wanted to give the guests an alternative. It actually turned out really yummy and she raved about my filling at the tasting tonight. :)
Hazelnut is also known as Filberts.... My father in law used to have a 75 acre filbert farm and I loved getting the fresh nuts every year.... miss it now that he has sold it. He used to bring me a 100 pound bag of them every year for Christmas!
You might try on line for the butters... you can use hazelnut liquor in buttercream too and it adds a nice flavor.
