Wasn't real happy with this one. Ruffles are harder than they look.

AHHH! So sweet, and PINK!!
I got my stainless steel ones on ebay for about $5, picked up a set for my sister, and a friend too!
Yes Sandra, there are a lot that have that seam. I have a set of PME ones and they don't have the seam. but the stainless steel is still better.
Becky, I can tell you exactly why your plastic ball tool kept tearing the fondant. Mine does the same thing. It has a tiny seam that runs right across the ball where it was molded. If you are very careful and not let the seam touch the fondant it is fine, but if it does, it will tear it every time. I, too, am ready to invest in a set of stainless ball tools.
Hey Becky, out of interest, I spent a day recently with an awesome flower artist Les Brown (also a member here). I have a plastic ball tool as well, but had a go at using his stainless steel one. And oh my word, the difference! Just glides over the paste and doesn't need half as much pressure as the plastic ones. So if you use it a lot, it may well be worth investing in one. (or two, or three, because of course, there are all different sizes..........)
looks good to me !
It looks really pretty.
