I greee I feel the best deadline for a cake contest is for a few days or so after the holidy is over...many times i do cakes for clients, due on or the day before the holiday, and usually the deadline is over...more people order as the holiday approaches, as now a days, you never know whether or not you will even have company, etc or will need a cake at all...lol just my thoughts:)

Theresa, for those just starting cake decorating, the extension of the submission date would be most beneficial as they wouldn't necessarily have a photo from a previous Halloween to submit.
Seeing as the 31st is on a Sunday and most festivities would be completed the Saturday before, if an extension is decided upon, maybe do it until the 30th instead of the 31st.
The October entries can be voted on and still give a theme for November, yes?
Yes the 31st would be a better idea. some people make them for HW parites etc. so the weekend of HW would be a much better time to end the contest... JMHO :-)

PS I will hopefully have a cake for this contest. LOLOL
I agree with Theresa. Making cakes for a particular occasion requires a last minute creation. I plan on entering the contest and will have at least one thing made by the 22 but most likely people will be making Halloween cakes the week of Halloween.
