Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Most of you probably already know this, but I learned something new yesterday from Terri at CakeClub-Nashville.  To get a permanent, high gloss on gum paste and / or fondant, use a mixture of 1 part corn syrup to 2 parts alcohol or lemon extract.  A very little goes a long way, so I used 1 teaspoon corn syrup and 2 teaspoons alcohol.  Drys quickly, but will get a little tacky if expose to high humidity (I took it outside to photograph and it got a little sticky, but quickly dried).  Here is how it looks:

This is what I use.  I have a cheap bottle of vodka that I use to mix with luster dust and to make this edible glaze.  It's very inexpensive and pretty effective.

Thanks for the info Sandra!!!
