Dessert Recipes/Suggestions for a Creole/New Orleans Themed get together?

Hi All,

My husband and I are having a small get together this weekend, and we're planning on doing some creole/New Orleans food...jambalya, dirty rice etc.

Any suggestions on what I should serve for dessert? Its just some close friends so I'm not planning on doing anything fancy, but definitely want a dessert that will complement the meal!

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Sunny smiles from the Cayman Isles,

Faith

Bread pudding, creme brulee, pralines, bananas foster, cherries jubilee or anything with pecans and burbon

here's an easy bananas foster recipe
Pecan pie with warm vanilla bourbon sauce. Mmmmmmmm - one of my favorites. I just make the pecan pie recipe in the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. For a really simple, easy and quick sauce simply melt your favorite high-end vanilla ice cream in a sauce pan, then add a little bourbon and cook until it's warm but doesn't boil. Pour it over individual servings.
I am just seeing this... Sorry I didn't respond but the other ladies were dead on with the suggestions... What did you wind up with..... Love the idea.
I ended up working late on Thursday and Friday, so I never got to make anything! Instead I just grabbed a cheesecake, and did the sauce that Eileen shared...the one with the melted icecream. It was delicious!
Yeay! I'm glad you liked it! That sauce is also really good over bread pudding. Oh man...now I'm hungry.
