Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi, I wonder if anybody has an idea on how to make a 9"x9" square hard edible card like piece of fondant or other which would stand up,not break or to flimsy but not too thick. I think that ? Maybe a little confusing, but it needs to be like a page from a book.

You could try Pastillage. You can roll, thin, and it I'll hold it's shape. Try the recipe and website below. Hope this helps.

Pastillage, pronounced PAHS-tee-AHJ, is a type of sugar-based dough used to make edible decorations . Though it's edible, meaning that they can be eaten ...
Thanks very much June will go and check it out xxx

You can use gum paste it will dry hard and keep its shape, I have used it for a variety of different projects, it is a great medium to paint or write on with edible food markers. I have also worked with pastillage and it is also a really good medium but you have to be able to work really quickly.

I think gumpaste is very good to make a book. I was able to make a bride and a groom bears made of gumpaste and it stand well plus the gold flower which I kept a petal and after 3 weeks is still ok and didn't break because I want to see how long will the gumpaste flower stays fine. Please see the picture. Here's the recipe:http://cakecentral.com/a/easy-gumpaste-recipe

I agree with the gumpaste option.  I have used pastillage and it can be very fragile and quite challenging to work with.  I also like flower paste (bought ready made).  It can be really quite thin but holds it's shape forever!

I agree to gumpaste. you can put very thin wire used for flower petals inside which you can insert into the cake later.

use gum paste
