I would imagine no problem Gail (never actually done it with apples), but I would suggest bake from frozen and make sure your oven is up to temperature before you put the pie in.

THANK YOU KATY , I AM GOING TO GIVE THIS A TRY , !  so many apples , and I don't like apple butter  ; P

I had a glut of apples too this year and I have made some apple puree and frozen it.  Then I will use it to put in individual apple pies, or spread it on flaky or filo pastry and wrap it into a roll and bake - bit like strudel.  Add some flaked almonds to it, or sultanas - loads of possibilities!

I also wrap some of the greener ones in newspaper and box them up in a cool dark place, which slows the ripening down a bit and keeps them for longer so you can also use them fresh.

THATS AWESOME KATY , TFS ! they are so good , I give some to my sister inlaw , but she feeds them to the deer ! so i'll just make pie filling and give her some of that , lol !

welcome :))

I also have a bumper crop of apples. Will probably be picking them this wknd, if the forecasted rain holds off. I cut my apples into slices Gail, pop them in freezer bags, squeeze some lemon juice over them & give them a stir. That's it. When I want to make a crisp or pie, bring them out, add my ingredients & put into the casserole dish, or crust.

thank you June , I have to get moving on them now , : ))

Me too Gail. They should have been picked already, but been busy. This next week is crazy. I am baking Sam's shower cakes tomorrow or Sat & freezing. I have my hubbies b-day, a theatre night & the Canadian baking & Sweets show, in between my yoga & Zumba all next week. Whew.

My sister-in-law does it all the time.  I made some apple pie jam with mine.  Don't know if it's any good cause I still had some homemade blueberry jam so won't be opening it for awhile.

I bought a crank handle apple peeler a long time ago. Shove the apple onto tines, turn the handle, done. Use the apple corer.... easy peasy...... It was a Ronco cheapie.... and it works great..... :o)

yes I have one to , don't like it !!
