Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I'm venturing into gumpaste flowers and am curious what are your must haves? Any kit you can recommend? Thanks!

Oh ya..... There are until you get the hang of doing them...... It's practice, practice practice...... :o)

Oh yes - buttercream is way more difficult that gumpaste.  You have to get the buttercream consistency just right.  


lol I know that ! for sure , if its not , it looks like some1 stepped on your flowers , lol , one thing  have to learn is how to get it just right !

Well, not only have I purchased my own gum paste kit, I've bought half of wilton`s gadgets for cake decorating. Damn, I wish I could sell cakes too.

Yes you are right! But if you are a cake decorator you really is a patient person or else you can't create a beautiful cake....

I am baking a cake for my second wilton class tonight. I'm making my signature lemon cake with a creamy raspberry filling. I have two recipes for the filling but with my ankle (and walking A LOT yesterday) I don't feel like standing up and messing with it much. So I've kind of adapted the recipe to fit my current situatuon.

My question is, will this work?
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 8oz of cream cheese, 1/4cup of raspberry jam. I'll just cream them together and have a quick version of my normal stuff.

Do my amounts seem ok?

depending on the jam , if it makes it loose & runny you may have to add more sugar !or maybe more jam !, taste it ! but it does sound good

Thank you. I'm not usually good at coming up with my own recipes but, I figured this should work and it's easily modified if it comes out too runny or lacks flavor. 

yes , I did the same thing with fresh strawberry s yesterday , just had to keep adding more powder sugar , but I did add a few drops of strawberry ext-
