Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I thought I'd start a thread where we can all share our week, show pics, vent, all the good stuff (and not so good, if that be the be the case). Take a break from the craziness and share our work s of art.

Since I'm home on disability leave from work, I have nothing but time. After 6 weeks of not being able to do much, and when I did do something, I certainly paid for it, I went crazy baking this week. Monday was my birthday, my momma baked a vanilla cake with strawberry preserves and fresh vanilla buttercream. Yummy!!! Then I took a cupcake class where we baked 4 different kinds of cupcakes (s`mores, almond joy, maple almond blondie and root beer float) and decorated them. I like trying new things when it comes to sweets, but I don't want to waste a whole batch of cupcakes if someone doesn't like coconut, so the class was a lot of fun. Also, my fiance has been begging for pretzel dogs (hotdog baked inside a pretzel) so I made those along with a batch of fresh pretzels. Next week I start the wilton classes and physical therapy... can you guess which one I'm looking forward too most? Well that was my week, how about yours?

Well how yummy do they all look!

My week has been a bit on the mental side really.  Plenty of work on the CWB site, especially as we have a new contest started.

Also been trying to work out how I'm going to make a Louboutin shoe.  Think I have finally got some sort of template going, husband has made me a former to rest it on, so tomorrow is going to be cutting gumpaste and trying not to mess it up.  Hubby said - well you're going to make a spare aren't you?  Well, der, NO I'M NOT!  One's enough for me thank you.

Add all that to the usual stuff that doesn't go away just because you have a cake to do.  You know - washing, cooking, shopping, ferrying granddaughter about in the school holidays (thank heavens she's back to school soon).  Time for a glass of wine and a sit down tonight.  And as it's Friday and the beginning of the weekend, I shall eat cake too!

Well!!!! Where do I start...I've had a busy week baking getting ready for a wedding cake for tomorrow. Thank goodness it's now baked and just waiting to be decorated. Along with the 3 tier wedding cake (6-10-14 + chocolate sheet that goes with it, I had 48 cc's, & 3- 9" birthday's and Sunday I have another sheet (11 x 15+ a 6"on top) for the bride to share with her Mother who is in a rest home and her care takers who can't come to her wedding. I've still got to make white roses for the cake Sunday.Got to make it wedding-ly (is that a word?)looking. Other than that I guess I'm good. Thanks Jackie for checking out my website and the compliment.

I thought wedding-y was a word, so wedding-ly works for me! Especially after your crazy cake week. I, obviously, only bake for friends and family. I'm honing my skills, next week I start the wilton classes and I'm really excited about that. Hopefully my physical therapy doesn't kill me, although I'm not getting my hopes up. Next week is going to be crazy. Fiance broke his collar bone 6 weeks ago, today, he broke the plate the surgeon put in so he's in a world of hurt. Needless to say, I made my original post before all of the rest of today happened.
Katy, I'm looking forward to seeing that shoe! I'm a shoe girl, especially now that I am wearing a walking boot and only one tennis shoe : p

Jackie - I'm looking forward to seeing that shoe too lol!  I'm very nervous about it.  Hubby is out for the day so I can scream and swear and cuss without upsetting him!  Good luck with the physio - let's hope it helps in the long run.  No pain, no gain?  Sorry to hear about fiance - what a nightmare for you both.

Betty - my heck, you are a busy bunny.  victim of your own success?

Oh I love a "free day" when my fiance goes out and I can bake without him "helping." I'm sure the shoe will be beautiful.

Me too Jackie.  Love him lots, but, as the saying goes "How can I miss you if you won't go away?"

Hopefully, if the weather stays good I will have a whole 2 days next week.  He's going to my brother's for a motorbiking jaunt.  Fingers crossed! (Aren't I horrid.....)

If you're horrid then I'm worse! I've posted I have a broken ankle, which required multiple surgeries, two weeks after I hurt myself, my wonderful fiance broke his collar bone. We've been stuck in the house with each other for 8 weeks now! Well, I take that back, after he had his surgery, I stayed at my parents' house for a week so I would have some to take care of me. I love him, but I'm looking for any reason to go to the store alone!

I'm not well due to Dengue Fever, so I can't do anything but to rest and just open and read messages from Facebook. My husband and my second son got the Dengue Fever too....We'll have another platelet count test this coming Monday. Hope everything will be better. Thanks!

omg Maris - Dengue Fever!  How on earth did you get that?  Mosquito?  Horrid.

There's always a typhoon here in the Philippines, so expect there will be lots of mosquitos around with dengue virus. Some people in the flooded area got Leptospyrosis. We are getting better though my body is still painful. Thanks Katy!!!
