Hi everyone I am trying to figure out how to make the large ruffles on the fondant trim on a cake. I understand how to do the small ruffles but can't get the larger ones to look right. Picture of the cake is posted below. Please help if you can.

This is how I learned to do this is in my cake decorating course. Add a touch of tylose powder to your fondant, makes it easier to handle, but not enough you can't eat it. Roll your fondant out about 1/8"-1/4" thick. I have a Wilton roller that you can make the width you want for your strips. If you don't have that, a ruler will do. Once you cut your strips, let them rest for a couple of minutes. After that, it is just a matter of placing the fondant ribbon on the cake, attaching at intervals with the medium of your choice, water, gum glue, piping gel. After attaching, go back and using the end of a ball tool, handle of a spoon, or your fingers, gently pull the ribbon here and there to give it that soft ruffle look.
Hope you can understand my explanation. :o)
Thanks that helps a lot I will try your technique.
Glad to help. Good luck.... post pics when your done. :o)
