Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I've noticed some really beautiful cakes that have these jeweled brooches on them, attached to either the Fondant, or ribbon around the cake. Where do you get those? Are they edible, or just a decoration? I'd love to get some of them for my cakes, but I don't know where to find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I've seen them at Michaels in the bridal section.
u can also make the brooches,i purchased one, made a mold from, it dusted it with luster dust and glued(edible glue) edible diamonds, or edible pearls which you can get online. You can also get a brooche mold(plastic or silicone) from any online cake store, and you can use isomalt to make the rubbies and diamond effect. i beleive www.sugarcraft.com has some instructions on make cake jewlry and brooches.
hey fazia...
I posted a video link here on the homepage look for the title that says:
Ron Ben Israel...in it he shows you how to make a broch using gumpaste..
HTH!
There are also molds that you can buy that you can use gumpaste in to create a brooch as well.

thanks for the help ladies. I will check out the links
I think a lot of them that you see on the top designers cakes are not edible. They are so intricate and pretty. You can check out antique stores and pick them up too but be sure you clean them very well. If they are too heavy though they will not stay on the cake without tearing so you really need the light weight costume jewelry type. Michaels also has them in the section where they sell the swarski crystals and jewelry making supplies.
