Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I was asked by a girl I used to work with to make her some cupcakes for her wedding. She would like them in a foil liner(no problem) and covered in fondant with hand drawn snowflakes in buttercream(again, no problem). I don't have much experience with fondant (I'm and old school buttercream decorator). I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using poured fondant for cupcakes or if anyone has any tips/advice for me?

Hi Christena.  You certainly can use poured fondant for cupcakes, but it will need to be of a fairly firm consistency or the obvious will happen.  Make sure your cupcakes come below the top of your liner so it holds the fondant in while it sets.  Piping buttercream snowflakes may be a bit of a challenge as poured fondant doesn't set very firmly, just crusts over the top.  You'll need to be gentle with your piping.  I would leave the poured fondant to set for quite a while before you start piping.  Good luck.

Thanks Katy.. I decided to just go with regular fondant. It worked well.  Here is a picture..
