Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi all!
Just wanted to talk up eBay after purchasing a wonder mold doll kit for $26 including postage. Now in the USA I'm pretty sure the Wilton wonder mold kit is only about $20... But in Australia, it's EXPENSIVE just like all Wilton products are over here. Cheapest I could find it in a store was $59!! I got the kit second hand but the doll pick was still included as when the woman used it (once) she had its hair up so it stayed clean so I basically got a like-new kit for half price :-)

I've also been ordering small tools/items like a fondant smoother, gum paste tools and petal dust etc off eBay. My nearest cake decorating store is about an 80min drive away and is also expensive. I got the items off eBay for a literal fraction of the price, brand new.

So any1 in Australia having trouble finding cake deco items or reasonable prices, get on eBay. It's fab!

You and another friend must have the best luck with Ebay. I never seem to be able to find anything.  Don't think I am searching properly?!!!

Really?! Perhaps not. Maybe your searching in the wrong category? Try searching in "all" categorys at once then if there are too many results, narrow it down? And check your advanced search options and make sure it doesnt have any weird settings... Like "with best offer only". I use the eBay Australia.... But generally anything USA has more, not less! Including eBay USA...

Just went to eBay USA and typed in "fondant smoother"... Here r the results:
284 results http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/searchresults;PdsSession=bc9d481b139...

Then I typed in "cake tin" and it came up with 2,908 results... I scrolled thru the first 20 items and the prices made me jealous that they don't post to AU!

If you are aiming to buy the branded product, examine the photos carefully to find the brand on the packaging. Some generic knock-offs look like the real thing, but do not work as well as the original.

Wilton Wonder Kit?: I use a Dolly Varden tin and a generic doll ...
