Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi there,

I've been searching in the forums, but i can't seem to find the answer to this question.

How do I made edible glue?  I have read on many websites to use Tylose + Water.  However I do not have tylose, what other options do I have?  I used piping gel though that would work, but this morning the pillar fell!! DOH and it removed a little portion of my fondant too!! Which i have to repair now!!

I need to stick a long hard candy onto the side of fondant (like a pillar).  I want to ensure it sticks well so in the car it doesn't end up falling and cracking!!!

Any thoughts??

Typically edible glue refers to gum glue. A little piece of gum paste disolved in water. But for this I think you need royal icing.
I used 3 tbs of merangue powder and enough water to make a paste
I just use a small touch of stiff royal icing (it goes on like icing but hardens like candy) allow plenty of drying time. Also, it helps to support the pillar in some way until it sets completely.

Best of luck to you!

You can also try chocolate
I agree with the Royal Icing. It dries hard and will not melt in heat. The gum glue might not be strong enough to hold this... I use it for a lot of things but for holding larger things I always head to the royal icing.
Good luck hope it works!
For edible glue for fondant and gumpaste I dissolve 2 Tbsps. warm with with 1/4 tsp. tylose powder and stir with a toothpick and put in fridge overnight.
