This was your first cake! wow! i've just gone through the rest of your pics and see the close up of hello kitty too... i love everything about this cake. do you do it all professionally now then?

I actually took a metal ruler and pressed it into the fondant to make the diamond designs. That was the really hard way of doing it though. You can actually go and buy an impression tool that you place on the side of the cake and it will make the same design. It looks like a plastic rectangle that has the diamond pattern on it and all you do is press it around the cake. I hope this was not confusing to you.

This cake is beautiful... my grandaughter is wanting a Hello kitty cake for her 3rd Birthday next week, so was browsing for ideas. How did you do the effect on the side of the top cake... its stunning x
