Thanks for your lovely comment June, I too am self taught it's amazing what the internet can teach you!!! I started making cakes from home a while back, when I had my kids 10 years ago, but then I immigrated to Australia and its a pain to get a licence here and all that jazz to be able to do it from home, so I went back to doing administration, a few cakes on the side.....boring!! But we have since relocate within Australia and I got a job with a little cake company, so I'm loving being creative again. I have also recently completed my Certificate III Pastry Chef so I'm now "qualified" to make cakes, but don't feel it as I have taught it all to myself, never had any formal training! The lady I'm working for does not know much, in fact I have been teaching her things, but that's ok all good!! Thanks again for your lovely comments I really appreciate it.......
Hi June, thank you for your comments and compliments. I uploaded the images from my ipad and struggled to name them, is there any way I can edit the image names now?
Hopefully My Son Will Be In A But Better Shape Job Wise When He Finishes. His Degree Is In Health Information Management Which Is A Really Good Field Here Right Now. Plus I Can Refer Him To My Company (I Work For A Huge Non Profit Catholic Foundation) And We Can Both Get Sign On Bonuses! I Hope He Does Work For Them Because They Have Wonderful Benefits. May I Ask Were You Live?
I still buy every pattern that comes out in BBW sizes because I literally have HUNDREDS of yards of fabrics stock piled. But I only buy them when our two fabric stores have the .99 or $1.99 limit 10 sales and then I make my hubby purchase 10 as well! I must admit that I am very envious of your retirement. My 3 kids range from 24 to 35. I could easily retire from nursing and make a good living doing cakes but my son has one more year of college and I have him on my medical which he needs, so I'm going to shoot for next fall. I can't wait! I also think I would enjoy being a moderator and doing some teaching so I plan to look into that as well.
I guess I'm a bit ahead of the learning curve because I've alway had an artistic streak. I've sewn, crafted and baked my whole life so this seemed like a natural progression. Fortunately, I've enjoyed sugar more than any other medium to date. Except maybe fabric...she who dies with the most wins lol!
Thank you June! I was really blessed the first quarter of this year. I had work in Cake Central Magazine Dec/Jan and in the ACD Jan/Feb & Mar/April issues. I knew about Cake Central because I was the Member Spotlight so they interviewed. But with ACD you never know until you receive your 3 free issues announcing that your work has been featured. It's like Christmas each time lol!
Thank for the comment June and I have added titles to my pictures now. I'm not exactly sure how this site works but it looks like there some great cake makers here with lots of handy tips and inspiration.
Thank you June. I haven´t realized about the privacy settings. I´ve already changed them. But I don´t understand what you say about the title of the cake photo.. It doesn´t fit? If you could explain that I´d appreciate it. Thanks again.
June it is always a pleasure to read your messages. Yes I was away from the page a little bit but I am in London, still. As you can imagine busy busy, packing and packing, creating new molds plus we had a city event during the spring break and I helped a lady who has a bakery here and we were working on toppers, 100's of toppers but now I am back ;). Also as you mention, I did not even know what happened with my pictures and my account, yesterday when I tried to log in, CWK did not accept my password neither my e-mail so now I am signing in through Facebook. easy peasy ;)
Thank you for the compliment June! This is really just a new found passion for me! Just months into it now and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I'm in Belleville Ontario...east of you along the 401 =)

Thanks June for your comment on my monogram cake. I like doing the "wave" design, gives a little texture to cake sides and is easy to do.
Lorraine is a wonderful teacher :-)
I make mine in polymer clay though rather than the fabulous sugar creations Lorraine makes.
She was at my house last week:-)
It certainly keeps me hopping!!!
Thank you for your compliment, June! I really appreciate it! And you have wonderful cakes yourself! :-)
thank you for the comment June! This site is so fun to look for ideas and share with fellow bakers
