thnx linda, i purchased some many things from gsa, when they had the xmas sell, i thought 2 my self , this is it, then i would go back and buy more, i never thought of getting the luster dust, i use them so much. But i will be on it next year. The are having a sell now on the petal dust, but i figure i would need every color and that would break the bank @ $1.99. you are soo right, the artist pastels arent expensive, so maybe i will try them the next time im in Ac moore craft, those are the…

I have seen them, Monica, but the ones that I have looked at don't say that they are toxic free so I have resisted purchasing them. By the way, your purple on those tulips looks absolutely gorgeous!

Global Sugar Art had all of their dusts on sale right around Christmas for about 89 cents each (usually around $3.50 to $5.00 each!!) so I bought every color they had. Of course my shipping wasn't cheap, but I still thought it was worth it. I bought about 50 colors and most of them were…

Back to your question, if they are non toxic, they should work the same as if you were using them on chalk paper. If they aren't too expensive, I would give them a try and see how they work, once your colors start to go down.
thnx linda, i put a small amo…tag:cakeswebake.com,2012-01-12:4635016:Comment:8497102012-01-12T03:44:49.564Zmonica murphyhttps://cakeswebake.com/profile/monicamurphy

thnx linda, i put a small amount of luster into the chalks, i have some sidewalk chalk, but i used the artist soft pastels on the parrot tulips because i needed a deep purple and used the sidewalk chalk on the alstromeria lillies, i think the artist chalk was better than the sidewalk chalk. I was aslo wondering about the oil chalks, they have very vibrant colors and are non toxic also, have you ever tried them?

Monica, I have used the non toxic chalks found in the scrap book section at Michaels. I didn't think that they were as intense as petal dust, but I'm like you, I think the petal dust is way out of range for price. I have heard that anything that is non toxic is okay to use, even children's sidewalk chalks. If you need small containers to hold your chalks in, here is a link that sells all kinds of stuff to make lip balm and soaps. This link should take you right to the area where the tiny…

They are cheap. http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Sampler-Containers-c-122.html
