What is life without cake?

My life is already full and has been for quite some time.  I'm a Mom and a wife, I work full time, support my running buddy by showing up 4 times a week for a running chit-chat session, bake cakes in the evenings and hang out with friends and family in between - oh did I mention I have also been going to the gym to burn some of these cake and icing calories off the hips and thighs?

Out of all I commit myself to, being a Mom is my #1 favorite and baking cakes is right behind #1.  (My full time job and going to the gym have never made it to the 'faviorite' list.)

Sooooooo, this summer our family has scheduled vacation for 2 separate weeks.  AHHHHH! I mean ARGHHHHH!!!!  WHAT HAVE I DONE????  2 WHOLE WEEKS AWAY!!!   I have already received calls from my customers questioning if this is true and what are the dates so they can schedule their events around my vacation.  Now I feel guilty and find myself compromising my time that I should spend packing, shopping for last minute forgotten items and getting our things ready to go...because I have scheduled cakes for pick up the evening before we leave because as one customer said of her daughter "that's all she requested for her birthday, one of your cakes...".  I so love my customers!!

So now as my family gears up for our first vacation of the summer, my days are getting longer and longer trying to get all of the cakes ready for pickup before we leave. 

I for one am looking forward to a whole week off from life.  Ummm, did I mention we we're attending my husband's family reunion? So I'll be bringing stuff to bake and ice a couple of cakes while we're there.  Doing so is two fold:  1. I can still enjoy one of my favorite things to do and 2. it gets me some quite, peaceful time away from the in-laws!
