Caroline, with that short notice, you're going to have to keep it pretty simple.  Why not just cover a cake in grass green fondant, add something like a round or kidney shaped piece of blue fondant for a lake, a small dot of black for the hole, round piece of white for the ball (with some dents pushed into it with a small skewer or anything else you have to hand.  Make  a flag pole with a cocktail stick and the flag from a piece of scrap material or paper cut to shape and size.  If you have time, you could try to add a bunker with a shaped piece of fondant and some finely crushed biscuits for the sand.  Good luck and post the pic whatever it turns out like.  I'm an amateur too, but we all like to see what other people do.  Practice makes perfect!

I am just attempting to make some kind of golf themed cake for my brother's birthday tomorrow.  It was a last minute decision as I wasn't sure I'd have time with work.  All tips and creativeness would be gratefully received from you many experts......I'm going to need it.  If you don't see the photo appear, you know it went horribly wrong or is not worthy for cakes we bake where standards are high and talent great ;-)
