Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have created some fondant appliques and molds that I need to color in a very shiny and deep gold color (like the italian jewelry) for an indian wedding.  Please I need suggestions in what color or mix of colors to use.  I have been trying to get to the right color to no avail.  I will appreciate your suggestions.

Yes, you are perfectly correct Lynne. Although non toxic is a start I guess. I'd always advise a client to remove metallic & heavily glittered areas before they eat it. I also mention that while the sugar flowers are 'edible' they don't taste great. Good luck Sandra in your quest for the perfect colour :) x

THose gold paints are NOT edible.  Use them ONLY on items that can be removed from the cake and not served.

Hi Sandra, I'm based in the UK & I have found a luster dust in our local cake decorating supplier by a company called 'EdAble Art'. I used the Royal Gold to paint all the gold work on my Cinderella coachhttp://www.cakeswebake.com/photo/fondant-fetish-cinderella-pumpkin-... and it covered so well with one coat. You just mix it with a little clear alcohol. I noticed that they also do a bright gold, and it looks like it would be the colour you want. A real bright yellowy gold which would mimick the 24 plus carrat gold that indian jewellery is made from. Or maybe you could use edible gold leaf?

Tracy :)
