Ingredients

1 Pkg chocolate cake mix with pudding ( I used Duncan Hines chocolate with instant chocolate pudding mix)

1/2 cup sugar

2 tsp cocoa

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup water (I used milk)

1/2 cup Kahlua or Tia Maria

3 eggs (I used 4 eggs because of the choc pudding)

1/4 cup bourbon

3/4 cup coffee, extra strong

Frosting:-

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup evaporated milk

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Combine cake mix, sugar & cocoa. Combine oil, water, Kahlua, bourbon and coffee. Beat liquid and eggs into dry mix. Pour and bake for 50 min.

Frosting - Heat Butter, sugar and milk stirring constantly.  Boil for 2 min, remove from heat and quickly stir in chocolate chips and pour over cake.  This may be made in microwave.

We have way to big of a stash of different kinds that I have used in my baking...bourbon for bourbon balls...cherry liquor for Black Forrest cake....Ever Clear for my gum paste... Creme De Menthe for something at Christmas time, now I can't remember what for, along with Creme De Caecao (I'm sure my spelling is off on this) for the same thing I used the Menthe stuff for....You would think we are big drinker, but we don't drink any of it. I guess I could have a whopper party at Christmas to use it up.

Ha! Ha! Anne
I have the LCBO in my house!!!! We hardly ever drink. We need to have a blow out party to use it up. We need to have my daughter's in-laws/sis/bro-in-lws cause they are HUGE drinking/partying people!!

June, how about whiskey?  That is what I would use for a substitute.

This recipe is very similar to our "Clark"  family famous  chocolate cake. Except I make from scratch. I know I don't have bourbon, so what else can I use?
