Hi there Debs, I switched on this morning and found your comments. Cool, I'd love to be friends. Where did you learn to ice? I am a 58 year old mama (also a Grade 3 teacher). Sadly, like all South Africans, my two married daughters (luckily to PE boys) live in the UK. Each has the most charming son (still being brought up "old SA-style!") They are also keen icers. My husband and I are planning to spend our annual school holidays with them. BRRRRR! My icing history? Thirty years ago there was a lady offering to teach us icing at St. Nicholas, our Anglican church in PE. I'd always wanted to learn, so signed up on the dot. I used to make the odd cake for sale (for friends) but do not do commercial work any more. I have made all my family's (and god-children's) birthday, Christmas, Easter, wedding cakes, etc. Ten years ago I made my beloved aunt's 90th birthday cake and to my joy, I am at present making her 100th birthday cake (and am still to bake and ice 200 cupcakes) for her birthday on 10th December i.e. in between marking books, evaluating and writing reports! So, I am what I call a "hobbiest" if there is such a word.(Next time I'll write in Afrikaans.) Soentjies! B
