Hi Becky, I wonder if NU Silver by CK products would give you the look you are trying to achieve. You can mix it with either vodka or ever-clear and use it like a paint, and it will be very shiny.

Thank you Becky. Yes I am making a portfolio of my cakes. Where in Florida are you? I looked at your pictures and they are great. I am still learning. I took classes at Michaels earlier this year and have been doing cakes ever since. I actually have a beach theme cake to do for Thursday and I am looking forward to trying some new techniques.

Becky, No I don't work for Publix. My friend sent me a picture and asked if I could do a cake like the pic and I said I could do one similar. I found out after I delivered yesterday that it was a pic of a Publix cake. I also found out that Publix was gonna charge like $425 after they brought back the stand. If I had known that, I would have charged alot more to her. lol I think I did pretty well with it even though there are differences in the two different cakes. I would love to work for a bakery, but for now I just do friends and family.

I've never taken any cake decorating classes except for whatever I have learned on line through tutorials. But I have dabbled in cakes since I was a kid. My aunt was a cake decorator and tried to teach my Mom, but my Mom wasn't interested. She had some tips in a drawer in the kitchen that my aunt gave to her, (that she never used) so I would mess around with them when I baked cupcakes. It's only since having the Internet to explore and learn that I have broadened beyond character pans and butter cream! lol My key to learning? Never become big headed, always know there are a 10000 and more way better than myself, give credit always to those who have been instrumental in your growth, and give back whenever possible.
