Have 2 good books on gumpaste flowers, but I have to be in the "mood" to want to fiddle around & practice. :0)

AHhhh...my secret weapon. Marzipan. I add a teenie, tiny amount of fondant to it cause it is very pliable, and needs the fondant for structure. I made some hearts with the marzipan awhile back & I added gumpaste, otherwise, they would have taken forever to dry. I made a orange rose, just plain marzipan. I swear it took two weeks to completely dry out. I have often thought about adding some when making my gumpaste flowers, as it really helps with the flexibility of forming the petals. Trick is not to add too much, as like I said, takes a long time to dry.

Well, I want to know how you made the yellow center so shiny.

Thanks Linda

As i said to Gail. I had a bad migraine making these, so they weren't as "clean" as they should be. But they were just for practice anyway. Wanted to show Gail what I meant when I spoke of placing "petal fringes" inside the flower.
