It is hard to see the sundial at top.  This was a crazy cake.  Drove all the way across country and while trying to make this cake in a remote location my 2 yr old got very ill and I had to take him to the hospital-twice!  The plan was to paint cattails, iris's and other foliage around the top.

Impressive - that was quite a commission. Love it & now you've said I can see it's a sun dial. Beautiful work :)

Thanks Tracy.  Actually I travelled 3500 miles with all my gear and made the entire cake on site.  It was a unique situation and I was honored to have the use of the kitchen and a pastry chef for the three days I was there.  The waterfall background is fondant painted blue and I used royal icing to paint water drops and foam at the base.  I used royal to adhere at top and base. There is a sundial at the top, though you can't see it well in this photo.  I ran out of time and was unable to paint the cattails and iris's that I planned for the top tier.

A very tranquil looking cake. I bet transporting it was an issue with the waterfalls connecting them, or did you add them in situ. It looks fabulous
