I keep wanting to try the wafer paper but I'm hearing some negative things about it! Not cheating Sandra!

It's the site Sandra because I tried to send you a message earlier and it did not go thru.  Check your facebook messages.  It will probably be in your "other" file.

I thought it looked good, but was afraid the purests might crucify me :o)  Mine are not as pretty as yours, by the way.

I responded her because either my computer or the site would not let me reply in messages.

Not cheating at all Sandra.  It actually looks great with the mix of the two mediums.

I do not know the brand of the wafer paper I am using. One of the ladies at the cake club did a demonstration and gave us a few sheets to practice. Water works fine to stick it together, if you don't get too much and melt it. It still gets sticky, even with plain water. I also cannot get the tip of the leaves to curl by moistening. I don't like it as much as the gum paste because you cannot achieve the realism possible with gum paste (sure do want some of the Platinum Paste!).

I made three ranunculus with the wafer paper, then decided they need foliage, so I made it from gum paste. They look good with the flowers. Planning to make a few buds (out of gum paste, as well), too. Is that cheating?

haha Bonnie.  The colored paper is way to pricey.  I'm thinking of trying different designs to make.  Even thinking of possibly covering a cake with it.  We will see.  I have plenty of white paper to play with.

WELL!  I am batting ZERO today! lol  First, if you remember, I thought the colors tied together from the top down, when it was actually, from the bottom UP!  And now I thought you had used precolored rice paper, for the flower look,  and ya didn't!  lol   Just another one of those days...

By the way Goreti, that WAS a back handed compliment, on the flowered paper!!!  Who but you, would have thought of that??

They look like fun.  The drawing on the petals perfectly ties in the design on the cake board.  Love all of it.

For these, I mixed petal dust with coconut oil and colored each petal individually.  Once I put the flower together, I then dipped the brush in the mix and then dipped it in petal dust for a more concentrated color.  Brushed some here & there to give it some depth.  For the ones on sides, I decided to use edible pens, make dots & a flower on the paper and then cut petals.  It was kind of fun.
