Hi Sandra - a smash cake is typicality a small cake (mine are 6" one layer) that is given to the baby (usually on their first birthdayay) to tear apart - thus "smash".  This is somewhat a new thing that has really taken off and I have been getting lots of requests.  Lots of photographers will have the mom bring a smash cake to photo sessions to take pictures of baby all messy and icky with cake and frosting :)

May I ask please, what is a smash cake?
