Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

it took me 5 hours to make these. I'm practicing for a cake I need to make for June 24. I know these characters still need improvement. Had no idea it was hard, since this is my first time molding characters. But at least I've made another step toward learning. :)

Showed this to my husband, and his reaction...

*long moment of silence (approximately 3 minutes)*
then he says, "Is that a lobster or a crab?"

I wanted to smack him in the head. lol

bottom pan is 10" and top 5"

Great idea!  I could put something like - Hey Mike, this is what home grown vegetables look like!

As for the gardening, it has taken me several years to get it right - lots and lots of trial and error.  In fact, not unlike cake making and decorating!

hilarious! it'd be funny if you took pictures of your enormous plants and sent him a card with it. lol :P I so envy you. never been good at gardening. In a span of 2 years, I've had around 10 plants. including basil, oregano, rosemary, parsley (which were in pots).. The only remaining herb i have is the oregano. the rest died. and 2 other non-edible plants are still alive. it's a pity i didn't get my late grandpa's green thumb. hehe

haha too funny Shaira!  It's like my son - he's finally found a partner that he has moved in with and she is gardening mad.  so he's starting to grow his own vegetables and telling ME how it should be done lol! I've been doing it for years and so far my veg are around 15 times the size of his and more prolific - so ya boo sucks to him!

Katy, thanks a lot! and true, I did learn a lot of things during the process. I'm gonna do something different with the "Lobster" lol and the fish. plus, gonna add more details on the mermaid. :)

Thank you very much Rima!

Husbands can be cruel. lol Especially if you're in the same line of work. lol We met at work more than 3 years ago. We were both chefs. but he was in the hot kitchen, and I was in the garde manger/pastry department. but now, he got assigned in the pastry department (a.k.a my territory) so i hate it when he comes all like "Don't do that. Do this." Know-it-all. I tell him, hey buster stop bombarding me with your "wisdom" unless u want to sleep in the garage. lol

God - they can be so cruel can't they?  Shaira, I am terrified of even attempting to mould a character, I just know I'd be rubbish at it haha.  It would end up looking like something out of a horror movie.  I'm very impressed with your first attempt and I bet you learnt lots in the process right?
