Pretty in Pink Ruffles & Rosettes Baptisim Cake

This is the cake I made the gumpaste baby for. Customer wanted lots of pink.... she got it. A bit too much pink for me, but I aim to please. I did offset some with a few violet rosettes. Fantasy flower and cross both gumpaste.

Thanks Brenda

I usually don't have trouble with ruffles. I have 3 tips I use all the time, but this was a new one, and for some reason, it kept clogging. Plus as I posted, it was very humid. 1. Should have made warm weather icing using high ratio shortening. 2. Icing wasn't stiff enough.  But all & all, despite ALL the pink. It came out OK, and the customer was happy. Can't ask for more than that.  :o)

Well, I can say you are brave.  I haven't tried the ruffles yet.  I admire all the ruffles...warm weather sure does play havoc sometimes.  I live in South MS and it stays hot and humid a LOT!  And the baby is SO sweet!  Thank you for sharing your work with us!

Sorry, I was meaning you keep the second one beside you "on ice".  Anyway, your hard work paid off, it is a beautiful cake.

I don't actually have warm hands, but it was warm here. I did just that Laurie. Kept one bag in the fridge & one in use. It was just time consuming. :0)

June, this is beautiful! I have warm hands too and many of my cakes have been during the warmer weather.  I learned a trick from a lady who owns our local supply shop.  She said to use one of the soft ice packs that they use for injuries and one regular one.  You set up two piping bags and keep one on the hard ice pack and cover with the soft one, then a thick towel, while you use the other.  As soon as your bag gets soft, switch.  That way you can keep going without much fuss.  Even if you only have one of the tip you are using, you can switch it out and still save time.  I also place my hands on the top ice pack if they get really warm.

Exactly stop, we have to think....we are unique and improving with each cake..and we are the ones who see our own mistakes, (and those with bad eyes)... I don't mind...makes us be better.

Thanks Sandra
Kept seeing my mistakes. Steve didn't notice any & had he, he would have said something. Why are we always so critical of our work!! I tend to say in my head.... so & so's wouldn't have looked like this. Then I have to say....I'm not so & so, stop comparing yourself.

Ya crazy weather, eh Goreti. Wasn't quite warm enough for shorts, but light slacks & a tshirt.  Unfortunately, the rest of the thanksgiving wknd here is going to be cool & possibility of rain.
