Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Had a request from a friend for this particular cake after she saw it at the grandaughters party. Base cake is made of vanilla cake and covered in fondant and buttercream icing. Tower is once again made from rice krispie treats covered in fondant and buttercream icing. Roof is made from rice krispies covered in Laffy Taffy shingles. Chimney is made from a tootsie roll. I had a little more time to add a few more details this time around. This was my second try at a three dimensional cake.

Hi!  I used a piece of 1" diameter PVC and mounted it to the cake board. The pipe runs up through the cake to just under the roof.  Mounting it to the board made a BIG difference in the stability.  I didn't do this on my first cake, and we had some major issues.  I used a french bread baking pan to form the krispie tower around the (well greased) pvc pipe, then slid the tower off before mounting the pipe to the board.  Have fun and I hope this helps!
