Thanks, Shirley! His body is modeling chocolate, but all of the scales and swirls are gum paste. My hot little hands keep melting the chocolate.
I liked him, too, Bonnie. At least the recipient still has him! His body does look like a ferret, doesn't it! I love ferrets :o)
This will always be one of my favorites! It is utterly fantastic!
I know this is way out of context, but If you cover the head & tail, the posture of the body itself would look a little like a ferret I used to have. lol Or that is how I remember it! He was very pliable! lol
Oh, I forgot. I am sorta like your brother. No one has ever called me Sandy, so I prefer Sandra, but I don't get crazy about it. Hope you enjoy the back and flip side views of the dragon LOL.
I will check out the sites tomorrow, but if you are talking about the Tulsa State Fair (largest cake show in the US), then I am definitely not ready! I am trying to get up the courage to enter the Tennessee State Fair decorated cake competition. The Macaws are slated for that one, but I am scared to death. I've never even seen a cake show! I've seen the pictures of several and they give me inspiration every day. Vivian Pham makes my eyes cross! I wish! Let's see if I have the courage to do the TN show. Good night, dear cake friend :o)
When you get time, check this out. I would dearly love to see you enter this one someday. Then I could say, 'I knew her when...'. lol It is every 'caker's' dream come true. While you are at the site, check out the 2 cakes that Vivian Pham did! Her 2011' & 2013' cakes, both winners of something. She also did a dragon cake, maybe you can find that somewhere. She is interesting, and puts so much detail into everything, which is what I like about your stuff. Is it OK to call you Sandy, or, like my brother, do you prefer Sandra? Robert grew up as Robert, & refused to answer to Bob. lol Why? It was not his name.
It would probably be a lot of fun, but most people probably do not have the time or patience to do this crazy stuff. I didn't keep up with the hours that little guy represents, but it is probably around 50. At least Leslie really loves him. She has him on display in the middle of her dining table You know, all this stuff is supposed to be edible, but who wants to eat something that has been handled that long, even if it did taste good, which is marginal at best. By the way - all suggestions are welcome :o)
You know, you could make a living, if you weren't already retired of course, doing tutorials on Craftsy. That would blow their minds. The other instructors there just THINK they are good! Ho-ho-ho Wait until they find out about you! All these things just keep popping into my mind. But I will try to keep most of them in check! Promise!
Please, please, pleas, & thank you!
