Three vanilla cakes stacked. One plain, one with dried cherries, one with cherry juice/almond flavoring. Vanilla buttercream icing, with white chocolate fondant. Sushi all from fondant/gumpaste mixture. Had made gumpaste fortune cookies, but didn't like the way they dried. They looked flat, not like the real thing, so I place real fortune cookies on the cake. Chopsticks were real to give to birthday girl as part of her b-day gift. Painted "bamboo" on the side of the cake.

Beautiful cake...I think I am starting to like sushi:))
Funny thing June is my daughter's name is Megan and she loves sushi. Unfortunately I never thought of doing this for her birthday which is 12/31. Since our last name translates to peacock, I am going to try making a peacock cake.
Yes, Megan, my son's girlfriend, was thrilled. Megan sent pic's of the cake from her IPhone, and all her friends said "they wanted one". Megan aslo posted a pic on her FB page, and got lots of positive reply's.
June, what a clever cake! I'll bet 'Megan' went crazy over it. Very nicely done!
Cute idea and lovely cake
